Turkish embroidery meets Cairienne madness ...
It's always a pleasure when Gypsum Gallery, located in the Garden city district of Cairo, announces a new exhibition. The post modern, contemporary, and generally quirky collections that can be found at this particular space are unlike any in our current art scene.

This particular collection featured Taha Belal in a collection entitled, "I'm not obliged to do this." showcasing his sculptural ambiguity and intellectually probing use of the Arabic language. As well as Gozde Ilkin, a Turkish artist, in her own collection entitled, "The Trap" comprised from instantly identifiable and culturally infused embroidered fabrics.
The exhibition space overall housed a combination of their work in unison; including collages, sculptures, fabric work, embroidery, as well as office paraphernalia.
As always, I entered the gallery to the sound of buzzing chatter and silent musing as I made my way around to admire, not only each of these fine artists' eccentric and multimedia crafted pieces, but also the open and inviting space that is Gypsum Gallery.
