Iridescence: A Moment in Deena Wagdy

Iridescence: A Moment in Deena Wagdy

Luminous. Glittering. Transcendent.

Cairo based jewelry designer Deena Wagdy's latest collection entitled Downtown Glam, harnesses the essence of iridescence, a term referring to the effect caused by a lustrous material that changes colors when viewed from different angles. A dazzling medium.

Her collection is inspired by the decadent chandeliers found in places such as The Royal Club Mohamed Ali, a palace estate in Cairo. Chandeliers dripping in crystals that reflect rainbows off of the palace walls, a scene of luxury and grandeur.

Earrings, necklaces, rings, chokers, and bracelets, this collection is complete with crystalized tear drops and fresh water pearls, set elegantly into 925 sterling silver cases carved to perfection.

The chokers, being our personal favorite pieces, allow for a level of elegance juxtaposed with beautifying opulence, in that they are both subtle in color yet shimmering and dazzling when worn both in the day and night.

Iridescent materials are a massive trend for SS'18, one we hope will stay with us a while, because there's nothing more empowering than quite literally being the most radiant woman in the room.

You can shop Deena Wagdy's latest collection through her website or Instagram.

Some of us get dipped in flat, some in satin, some in gloss ... But every once in a while, you find someone who’s iridescent, and when you do, nothing will ever compare.
