RADIC. Smiljan Radic.

RADIC. Smiljan Radic.

So in searching for our beloved website on Google, a twist of fate and and some clumsy typing, lead me to discover that there is a famous architect whose name is only one syllable away from ours.

Since Radical is a space that discusses all forms of artistic expression, once in a while, it's always refreshing to look at an example of someone who is pushing the boundaries in their respective profession. After all, every good artist knows that research research research is the key to success in any field be it fashion design, interior design, visual arts and of course architecture!

Smiljan Radic is a Chilean architect whose work is composed of mainly small scale dwellings and installation design. Recently he was asked to design the 2014 Serpentine Gallery Pavilion in London. As someone who attempted to go down the architectural path in my early University years, I have always had an appreciation for 3 dimensional design. Be it sculpture or buildings.

Radic's most notable piece of the Pavilion exhibition was a very Gagaesque installation in the shape of an oyster/egg  sort of mix.

Why am I writing about this now you might ask? It's 2016 and two new Serpentine Gallery exhibitions have come out. Well, honestly, because why not! I stumbled upon something cool and inspiring, I hadn't seen it before, and so I thought I would share it with you. With all the regurgitated content that rolls around these days, sharing old information is as good and as beneficial as sharing new. Especially in the art world.

Below are some of Radic's most notable pieces, mixed with some of my favourites as well. Check out the link for the Serpentine Galleries page, the 2016 exhibition is incredible. For all you archnerds out there, let's try to make it to the 2017 one, Bucket List for sure!

Architecture is inhabited sculpture.
