Blue Is The Warmest Color

Blue Is The Warmest Color

Blue is the final color in The Glare Project series. Oddly enough, this collaboration fell right into our direct messages.

A Nigerian creative named Floyd Anekwe messaged us on Instagram a month ago, pointing out that he'd designed a template cover for the first issue of a fictitious magazine named "Rad".

Serendipity is a strange thing.

Simultaneously, I had been on the look out for an internationally based illustrator/graphic designer to collaborate with on Feature III of The Glare Project.

I saw the cover and loved it, pitched the project to Floyd, and he accepted to design his own 3 part version of a hypothetical RADICAL cover issue. We started with blue. Followed by yellow, then my personal favorite, red.

Which color draws you in most?

"I love black. To me, it works both on an emotional and practical level. It's mysterious and generally perceived across cultures as evil. The mystery lends it power. Black is authoritative; because black can evoke strong emotions. It signifies a lack of color, the primordial void, emptiness. It is a classic color for anything, possibly because it evokes a sophisticated sense." - Floyd Anekwe

Blue in my opinion is a safe color. In general I am not partial to it, nor would I ever really chose it over anything else. In art, however, it serves a strong purpose. It balances and creates purples, pinks and shades of grey. Blue is not the warmest color. But it is, however, statistically the most liked of them all. And so we end The Glare Project with blue. Ask yourself, which color draws you in most?

When I first moved to New York and I was totally broke, sometimes I would buy Vogue instead of dinner. I felt it fed me more.
